Christian Fellowship World Outreach Centre celebrates 25 years
published: Monday | August 6, 2007

While many churches had regular Sunday worship, yesterday, the Christian Fellowship World Outreach Centre, Dunrobin Avenue in St. Andrew, was celebrating 25 years of ministry.

The church, founded in 1982 under the leadership of Bishop James A. Douglas and Roslyn Douglas, began operations from a leased room at The Prayer Tower in Half-Way Tree where the first service was held on Sunday, December 5.

Since then, the membership has increased and so too has its structure.

The Reverend James Douglas Jr. delivered the message yesterday.

Celebrant mood

He was in a celebrant mood and he got the entire congregation involved.

After greeting the congregation, Reverend Douglas asked his daughter to join him in song as he proceeded to play the church organ. Midway through their ministering, the father-daughter rendition had the entire congregation singing.

Some members closed their eyes tightly and sang along with hands waving above their heads in worship. Others rocked themselves from side to side, screaming "Hallelujah!"

Paulos Simpson, chairman of the church's promotion committee said the 25th annual convention will run until Wednesday, August 8 under the theme 'Jesus Leads, We Follow.'
