The Editor, Sir:
The Government has made it clear that it will pay tuition fees for those students whose parents are unable to pay. In my opinion, I think the Government has made a tremendous decision to cater for less fortunate students by subsidising tuition fees. It is also making it its point of duty to respond to the need to help shoulder tuition fees for students whose parents cannot afford them.
An educated nation
A nation with its people who are educated simply means that it will be a nation without criminals. This will be a very serious manner in which poverty throughout the country can be tackled. Why would anyone not want crime and violence to be stopped?
An educated nation will attract foreign investors, increase the country's benefit from the tourism industry and discourage any form or type of migration, such as brain drain and urbanisation, by the creation of jobs, so that the people can be more independent as much as possible.
Any effort to help students with tuition fees will simply lead them to get better education, so that they can become valuable assets to the country. It will also at the same time aid them to control or even prevent crime and violence for the future development of society.
I am, etc.,
