The Editor, Sir:
I found your picture on the front page of The Gleaner of April 16, 2007 to be lewd and inappropriate for a front page item. If you felt you had to print this photograph, couldn't you have found some other page in your newspaper which does not carry such prominence? Was there no other item from the Carnival which you could have carried? Orwas this the best that you could have found? (I sincerely hope that was not the case!)
We already have a sex-soaked society. One couldn't help but note that at the opening of the Circuit in both St. James and the Corporate Area, the judges commented on the increase in sexual crimes.
Additionally, we complain that our youngsters are engaged in sexual activities, yet a photograph as this only contributes to the problem of immersing us in this sex-soaked culture which we have created with the help of the media.
Come, come, Mr. Editor, where does The Gleaner stand on this issue? Will you help this society to exercise sexual restraint or will you contribute to the problem?
I am, etc.,
