Spanish boost for Jamaica Red Cross ambulance fleet

The Jamaica Red Cross has had its ambulance fleet boosted with the presentation of US$35,000 (J$2.3 million) from the Spanish Red Cross for the purchase of one for the non-governmental organisation. The cheque was presented to Dr. Jaslin Salmon, Red Cross president, at the Spanish Embassy in New Kingston, yesterday.

New group against judge retirement proposal

A third organisation has come out against the proposed amendment to the Constitution to raise the retirement age of judges from 70 to 72. Attorney-at-law George Soutar, president of the Advocates Association of Jamaica, has said that any amendment to the Constitution should await the recommendations of the Justice Reform Task Force
