THE CAMPAIGN came while cities buzzed with talk of plots against life and property. The party out of power accused the president and his party of tyranny, and the president's partisans accused their opponents of treason.


Real negativism, and false positivism
I EDITED the Catholic youth newspaper "Leaven" in the 1970s, and I once wrote an editorial entitled "On being Negative" which the Gleaner reprinted as a "Guest Editorial".


Investing prudently
DAILY, MORE Jamaicans struggle to survive economically even while a few get richer. Opinion polls show unemployment has become the major public concern even though Jamaica's murder rate is the highest ever.
