THE EDITOR Sir:I AM convinced that it is not the intention of the Government to have the crime escalating. They just don't have the fix for it.
Well here is the fix. Everyone has to get involved and that is the harsh reality, as scary as it may sound.
One of the big problems is that the people who have the resources to help are not helping. Hence we have to find a way to get them involved. We have to find something that all Jamaicans fear.
The only thing I see is the ability of Jamaicans to go to the United States. If crime gets way out of control then they will just pack their bags and run with their families.
Jamaicans will not do anything that will threaten their ability to get a U.S. visa and hence I beg the U.S. Government and the Government of Jamaica to use that fact to their advantage in getting everyone involved in solving crime.
If the Jamaican population feels that their "ability to go to foreign" is under threat then they will take the necessary steps to eliminate that threat. That is the only way all Jamaicans (here and abroad) will participate in solving crime here in Jamaica.
So please Mr. Government (here and in the U.S.) use that to the advantage of solving the crime problem here in Ja. No peace, no visa. You may be surprised to see what happens. I am a true Jamaican.
I am, etc
