Jagdeo, al-Assad meet

DAMASCUS, Syria:
Guyana's President, Bharrat Jagdeo, on Sunday met with his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Assad, to discuss matters of bilateral cooperation and ways in which the Middle East country could bolster relations with the wider Caribbean region.
During the talks held at the Syrian Presidential Palace, the two leaders focused on issues of bolstering ties in the areas of the economy, culture tourism and transport.
The talks also covered the Arab-Latin American summit, which is to be held in Doha, Qatar, at the end of March, the Syrian-Arab News Agency reported.
