Can we say 'phenomenal' without mentioning the Jamaican female athletes of the 2008 Beijing Olympics? As a team, and individually, the women were exceptional.

Shelly-Ann Fraser won the women's 100m in 10.78 seconds, followed by Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson, who tied for silver.

Veronica Campbell-Brown retained her 200m title at a personal best time of 21.74, while Kerron Stewart copped bronze in the same race.

Melaine Walker leapt to gold-medal glory in the women's 400m hurdles in a record time of 52.64s. Walker's time was the fourth-fastest in the history of the event.

Shericka Williams received a silver medal in the Women's 400m. The relay team of Shereefa Lloyd, Rosemarie Whyte, Novelene Williams-Mills and Shericka Williams received a bronze medal in the Women's 4x400m Relay.
