The Gleaner continues its feature on the eight finalists in Pulse's Caribbean Model Search (CMS) with its second instalment. The women are vying to be recognised as the top new model in the Caribbean and to receive a professional contract.

After winning the local CMS competition, Crystal has high hopes of securing the all-important international title under her belt as well. The high spirited model says she has been spending her free time catching up on model tips.
"I'm putting a lot of effort into practising my poses because I am competing not only for myself, but for my country. My strategy is to just be myself and do my best," she says.
The Excelsior High student is equally focused on her studies.
"Education is very important to me, so I'm putting extra effort in my studies. My mother ensures that I do that as well," she laughs.
Crystal identifies herself most with Pulse/Vogue champ Jaunel McKenzie and hopes to replicate and even surpass her success. "She has such a long list of achievements and I really want the world of fashion to embrace me as much as it has embraced her."

Armbrister

Aspiring business student Royann Armbrister describes herself as a very caring and friendly person who loves socialising and meeting new people. She is committed to constant self-improvement and is motivated and focused on accomplishing her goals. Currently, her sights are set on dominating the fashion industry.
"I entered this competition in order to become a prominent supermodel and this competition will expose a lot of opportunities for me to launch my career," she says.
She quotes her older sister as her mentor who encourages her to push harder for her dreams. "My sister is the most influential person in my life. She keeps me going even when I feel like I cannot," Royann shares.
She is also an avid sportswoman who has participated in school volleyball, basketball and track competitions.
