The Editor, Sir:
It has been quite interesting to watch the events of the inauguration of the 44th US president to see how orderly the people are - Democrats, Republicans and Independents. This shows that no matter our status in life we can live peacefully as a people.
When I watched the Beijing games and our independence celebrations, it too brought excitement and thrills to all Jamaicans. We were all one - united Jamaicans.
Harmony
Why can't we as a people live in harmony with each other all the time? We can use these events as the springboard to guide us now for that unity in multiply aspects of our life. I am praying for this nation of ours - Jamaica - that we will start to examine ourselves and make every effort to live by the golden rule - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
May we Jamaicans be the shining light that other nations can emulate!
I am, etc.,
