Andrew Price, coach of Digicel Premier League campaigners Boys' Town on Sunday praised his team's effort in their 1-0 win over Harbour View at Compound.
The former national representative, who last year guided the Red Brigade to third in the league and is hoping to go two better this time around, said what he saw of the team on Sunday re-emphasises his belief that they have the potential to win the competition, and once they continue to be consistent anything is possible.
"We definitely want to challenge for the title and what we need is some consistency," said Price, who saw his team put in a gritty performance, which came as a result of another match-winning strike from forward Peter Keyes.
Keyes netted a grounder, which came as a result of faulty defending on the part of Harbour View, who were dropping their seventh point in their last three games.
"If we can get the consistency going anything is possible. I am not predicting anything but anything is possible. Once we remain competitive and we can challenge, then we are going to give it a shot," he added.
Boys' Town, who were fourth heading into into Sunday's clash, are in a similar position on 33 points. Defending champions Portmore United, who started the day second to Harbour View on goal difference, overtook the Stars of the East and took sole leadership of the league on 37 with a 1-0 win over Clarendon's Sporting Central Academy.
Tivoli, who were third heading into the weekend, joined Harbour View on 34 points but remain third after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Waterhouse.
Closer to the leaders
"It (the win) brings us closer to the leaders. I would have loved if one of the other teams had lost but that's how it goes. We are going to have to take care of our own business and do what we have to do," said Price, who is hoping to reclaim glory for the South St Andrew club, which once ruled local football.
He added: "I thought we came out and played with a lot of guts and character. I told them this game would be one that defines our season and it was very important that we got these three points today as it will go a long way if we are to challenge for the title. I told them that it was a must-win situation and they came here and played with a lot of zest and gusto.
"I have to give a lot of credit to Peter Keyes. He is a young player who is getting goals and he came today with his kicking boots and, with a little more luck, he could have got a couple more goals, along with Denzil Watson," Price added.
Meanwhile, Waldemere De Oliveira, the Brazillian coach of Harbour View, who was away in Brazil during the club's two previous matches, which ended in 1-1 draws against Rivoli and Reno, said Boys' Town played well and, under the circumstances, were deserving winners.
"We lost because Boys' Town played a good game and we made some mistakes in defence," said De Oliveira. "But, sometimes these things happen. We have lost one game and continue to be in second position, so there's no reason to panic. We just have to continue and work hard," he noted.
