More than a week after allegedly committing misdemeanours, James Robertson, minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, was yesterday served with summonses by the St Thomas police.

Superintendent Jonathan Morrison, commanding officer for St Thomas, said Robertson was served with the summonses at Jamaica House about 11 a.m.

Robertson is scheduled to appear in court on February 11.

He is to answer charges of using abusive and calumnious language to the police and obstructing the police in the execution of their duty.

The incident is alleged to have occurred two Sundays ago in Norris, St Thomas, after Robertson went to help Rameish Simpson, who was shot and injured by the police.

Robertson took Simpson to the Kingston Public Hospital.

The injured man is slated to appear in the Yallahs Resident Magistrate's Court tomorrow to answer charges of illegal posses-sion of a firearm and shooting with intent.

The police claimed that they made several attempts last week to serve summonses on Robertson but were not able to find him.
