AFTER being pegged back owing to a couple of drawn games, Harbour View, who have been caught atop the standings, are aiming for a win to hold the number one spot in the Digicel Premier League, when they host Boys' Town in what is anticipated to be a mouth-watering clash at Harbour View Mini Stadium, at 6:30 p.m.

The Colour Reds, only four points off the lead, are just as keen for a victory to boost their title challenge. Their hopes are fired up by the fact that since returning to the league, they've never had a negative result at Harbour View.

Intense pressure

Traditional big leaguers meet in another intriguing encounter at Waterhouse Mini Stadium, with the homesters, largely unsettled this season, tackling third-place Tivoli Gardens at 5:30 p.m.

And with Portland's second season team St Georges teeing up nicely in fifth on 29 points, battling second from bottom Meadhaven (12), the pressure among the lead pack is intense.

Harbour View, coming off back-to-back draws at Rivoli and home last week against Reno, against whom they missed a penalty kick taken by Jermaine Hue, worked on their deficiencies in the lead-up and assistant coach Donovan Hayles wants it to bear fruit this evening.

"We got two poor results in the last two outings and one was a home game," he admitted. "After analysing the games, the outfield performance, the ball-playing performance was good. Where we were let down was goalscoring. So during the training sessions this week the emphasis was on finishing. We hope that we'll put what we did into practice and we're expecting nothing less than the full three points tomorrow," said Hayles.

His team should miss central midfielder Richard Edwards, due to yellow-card accumulation, but the line leading to Harbour View's goal chest remains open with key finishers Lovel Palmer, Marcelino Blackburn, Kavin Bryan, Rafeik Thomas and Jomo Gordon on call.

Boys' Town have more than enough motivation to achieve, most notably their placing.

"We're four points off the leaders. A positive result at Harbour View would go a far way in staying with the leaders and the outcome of the title," noted Andrew Price, Boys' Town's technical director. "We believe that the Harbour View team, though a competitive unit, can be beaten and if we put the two facets of our game together - that is defensively and attacking, and play good attacking football - we should be able to get a good result."

Regular scorer Peter Keyes netted the only goal in a 1-0 home win at Collie Smith Drive last week, a contrast to the previous week when they had lost.

Keyes, Denzil Watson, Shawn McKoy, Oneil McDonald and George Vernal have figured most prominently on their scoring charts and will headline their charge, along with hard-working midfielder Garfield Gillespie. Both teams have netted 25 goals, but Harbour View have conceded half as many as Boys' Town's 14. Nontheless, Price, whose team will be without Zeicko Herrera and Daemion Benjamin to cards, notes they've had good results at Harbour View and believes it maybe a factor.

"We've always had good results at Harbour View. We've never lost at Harbour View since we've been back in the premier league," he pointed out.
