  • H&L appoints a deputy

Dave Myrie, who joined the GraceKennedy group in 2007, has been promoted to chief operating officer/deputy CEO of Hardware and Lumber Limited.

The appointment, which took effect January 1, makes Myrie second in charge behind H&L head, Anthony Holness.

Myrie has held the position of principal in the GK Investments division, "working closely with the management team at Hardware and Lumber," the company said.

  • Courtney Campbell promoted

Courtney Campbell is to take on a bigger role inside the GraceKennedy group as chief executive officer of GK Investment.

The appointment becomes effective February 1.

  • Guardian hires new group CEO

Guardian Holdings Limited, an insurance conglomerate headquartered in Trinidad, has appointed a new chief executive officer, Jeffrey Mack, who took up office January 1.

Mack replaces Peter Gentaume, who ran the company in an interim capacity after Rory O'Brien resigned at the end of 2007 to pursue other interests.

Gentaume was called back from retirement to pilot the operation until a new CEO was found.

GHL has two subsidiary operations in Jamaica, Guardian Life Limited and Guardian Asset Management.

Mack is expected to visit Jamaica and attend a staff function at Guardian Life today.

  • New boss at LIME Dominica

Baptiste Jeffrey Baptiste has been named as the new country manager for LIME in Dominica effective January 1, 2009.

Baptiste, 38, a Dominican national, replaces Nabeel Bhatti who ran the company for three years.

"The promotion of a Dominican to head the Dominica Business Unit is in line with LIME's emphasis on placing Caribbean nationals at the forefront of the company across the region," said Sutcliffe Hodge, executive vice-president of LIME Windward Islands, in a company statement.

Baptiste has worked in sales with LIME since 2003, rising to vice-president with responsibility for corporate and retail sales in 2006, with oversight of the corporate sales team, The Mobile Shop, and Portsmouth Customer Service Centre.

He previously worked with Life of Barbados as branch manager in Antigua.
