Three men charged in connection with the theft of Bd$1.4 million (US$700,000) from the Central Bank of Barbados have been remanded to jail.
Former Central Bank employee Corey Rock, 25, appeared in the District "A' Court here on Wednesday, along with two other accused - Shawn Durand Hurst and Shawn Antonio Rollins.
The men's attorneys - Andrew Pilgrim, Marlon Gordon and Tariq Khan - argued that their clients were qualified to receive bail since they had cooperated fully with lawmen, signing confessions, naming individuals and giving oral statements.
However, police prosecutor Sergeant Glenda Carter objected to their release, telling the court that investigations into the case were a delicate stage.
In remanding the men, Magistrate Christopher Birch urged the State to get its act together, noting that when the accused re-appear in court on January 5 they would be granted bail.
