With the fancied horses falling like ninepins at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, both the Pick-9 and Super-6 had no takers.

As a result, the Pick-9 offers a carryover of $1.47 million, while the more popular Super-6 has $1.06 million in the kitty and could offer a payout of $2 million.

Seven starters

We look at the Super-6 which gets under way with a non-winners of two race over 1200 metres for native bred two-year-olds.

Seven starters have been declared, among them the recent winners COURT YARD, THE GUMMER, PROGRESSIVE and HE'S REALLY OK, the quartet from which the winner should emerge.

Champion jockey Omar Walker is down to ride THE GUMMER, who won easily over 1100 metres in the fairly good time of 1:07.3 on November 22. The bay gelding from the stables of champion trainer Wayne DaCosta worked well over six furlongs (1:13.4) last Sunday morning and looks all set to repeat.

The second race over 1100 metres for native-bred maiden three-year-olds should resolve itself into a straight fight between BIG BARGAIN under in-form Paul Francis and HERETOETERNITY with Walker astride.

PRINCESS JOYCE, who has been begging for a distance in excess of a mile, should outfinish THE REAL FURY (consistent) in the seventh race for the Joseph Armond Memorial Cup over the circular nine course, while the well-forward debutant JUST A FLUTTER (working exceptionally well), with Walker riding for DaCosta, is tipped to make a winning debut in the eighth race over 1200 metres for maiden and untried two-year-olds.

The vastly improved three-year-old colt MINISTEROFJUSTICE looks hard to oppose in the ninth race for the William Read Memorial Cup over 1300 metres, especially after his track record-equalling run over the straight five course (56.1) on November 22 still fresh in memory. And last Saturday's disqualified winner AMERICAN DON, with Walker now slated, should atone for last Saturday's disqualification by winning the closing race over 1200 metres.
