WESTERN BUREAU:
The invitation read, 'Putting on the Ritz', and no one expected any less than the five-diamond treatment synonymous with excellence that the ladies and gentlemen of the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall have crafted over the years.
Last Saturday night they gave that and more! The Montego Bay resort made only one minor adjustment, a change of location from Montego Bay to the heartbeat of New Kingston, Mac's Chop House.
"This year, we wanted to say thank you to organisations that sent us group/corporate business throughout 2008. A majority of those clients are in Kingston, so it was only right that we take the Ritz-Carlton to them, since they were always coming to us," boasted an elated Jacqueline Burrell, Ritz's outgoing public relations manager, who takes up the post of corporate affairs manager at Digicel next week.
Top Performer
Well, the minute Catherine Ryan, Bernd Kuhlen, Cezar and Mureen Ebanks envisioned where they wanted to host their most frequent guest, Burger King's Frank Ventura, and their most loyal client, the Jamaica Computer Society, there was no better venue than Mac's.
Others honoured on Saturday night included 2008 Top Performer, Outsourcing Management Inc; and The Gleaner, for tremendous support over the years.
Scotiabank's CEO Bruce Bowen and his wife Suzanne, Dr Christopher Tufton and wife, Neadene, Ann Ventura, William and Frances Mahfood, Byron and Christine Buckley, David Shields, Zachary and Tamara Harding, Ravi Daswani, Doug Gore, Sonia Rickards, June Deer, Edward Khoury, R. Christene King, Yvonne Wilks, Tedroy Burton, and Simone Brown were among the guests in attendance.
