MANCHIONEAL Community Club registered a fighting 2-1 victory over Ujama to kick off their Portland Co-op Credit Union KO campaign on a winning note at Hector's River on Friday.

Manchioneal goals came from Kashane Henry in the 36th minute and Corey Browning at the 67th, while Ujama's goal was scored in the 15th, courtesy of Jasefus Bennett.

"We are not yet at full strength," Manchioneal coach Brenton Wilson said after the game. "But our forwards have put us in a good position as we hunt a victory to move to the semi-final round."

In a game which saw both teams playing well in patches, home team Ujama struck first when Bennett dribbled through a weak defence to beat goalkeeper Anthony Forsythe from close range.

Damian Brown was red-carded in the 35th minute for foul and abusive language and Ujama lost their way afterwards, as Henry drew Manchioneal level a minute later to ensure that both teams entered the break locked at 1-1.

Super League contenders Man-chioneal looked a bit lacklustre in the second half, but still managed to complete the come-from-behind victory when Browning scored.
