Too much trivia
published: Tuesday | November 25, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I write in agreement with your editorial titled 'Waites anti-gay populist nonsense', which appeared in The Gleaner on November 20.

Rational people must ask the question, what is it about homosexuality that seems to make otherwise intelligent people suspend reason?

DISTRACTION

Jamaica is beset by an overwhelming murder rate, brutal rapes, an unstable economy and unprecedented corruption yet we find time to be distracted by an asinine debate about the dangers of homosexuality.

Are homosexuals responsible for the murders, rape and corruption in our society?

Is homosexuality the cause of the fatherless children roaming our streets or for the incompetence of our governments?

It seems that our politicians and some church leaders are intent on distracting us with trivia when they have no solutions for our major problems.

I am, etc.,
