Did you think that the pronouncements made by Minister of Finance and the Public Service Audley Shaw on the economy are a true reflection of what Jamaicans should expect in light of the global financial crisis?

Grantley Morgan-Miller

I believe his statements on the economy were justified and satisfactory. However, he could have provided more information on how certain sectors will be managed in light of the international crisis.

Donald Groves

I am sure we (Jamaica) will be fine. His arguments made sense and, while we will have some rough times ahead, I am sure with the right kind of support from the Government to the business sector, things will be okay. We should try and boost our agricultural output at a time like this and decrease our import bill on food items.

Elbert Stewart

We live in a global village and eventually what is happening in the United States will affect us soon. His statements were fair but the US is our biggest trading partner and if America sneezes, we catch a cold.

Carl Murray

He (Audley Shaw) has a vision for this country, so I think his utterance that the economy will be safe is justified.

Mackie Conscious

Only the poor won't be affected. They don't have anything to lose so, after all is said and done, they are the ones who will not be feeling the pinch. Tourism is heavily dependent on the US market, so I don't agree with the minister's statements.
