Taxi associations have come together in making a call for government to invest in a national school-bus system as a safer mode of transport for students, especially in light of recent reports of rape and abductions of schoolchildren. The call comes as part of a six-point plan for the improvement of the transportation system, deve-loped by the Jamaica Transport Operators Management service (JTOMS), the umbrella body for local taxi associations.
The plan was announced at a meeting held over the weekend, at Gaynstead High School in St Andrew, with executives of the group.
