Convicted murderer of JP to be sentenced
published: Monday | November 24, 2008

The man who was convicted last month of the murder of 56-year-old businessman and Justice of the Peace Winston Chin and his 50-year-old wife Aileen is to be sentenced on December 18.

Christopher Edgehill, 32, of Annotto Bay, St Mary, was to be sentenced last Friday, but sentencing was put off for a social enquiry report and medical report on Edgehill's physical condition.

The couple who operated Penny's Supermarket in Annotto Bay, St Mary were shot several times during a robbery at their home at Claremont district, St Mary on July 3, 2004.

Godfrey Williams and Cecil Wright, labourers of Annotto Bay were charged jointly with Edgehill but the jury failed to arrive at a verdict and a retrial was ordered for them.

The men appeared in the Home Circuit Court and were remanded to return on January 16 when their case will be mentioned.

Edgehill had given a caution statement to the police outlining the role he played in the murder and robbery.
