Youth need way of wisdom
published: Monday | November 24, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself bringeth shame to his mother. - Proverbs 29:15. Sir, it is ironic, our mothers and fathers of today, not only in Jamaica but worldwide, are being prevented by man's foolish laws from bringing up their children with the help of the rod of correction and reproof; even in school, teachers are prevented from using the rod of correction, etc.

Consequently, children bring not only their parents to shame, but, alas, the whole society and what is more sad is the reality that the boys and girls of today are the men and women of tomorrow. A corrupt tree brings corrupt fruits.

The Bible also says do not save the rod and spoil the child. Woe unto these governments who pass laws opposing the laws of God. Grow up the child in the fear of God and when he grows up he won't depart from it.

If we can convert the youth to the way of wisdom, we can say to them let past be past, follow the way of wisdom which leadeth to life. Jesus help us.

I am, etc.,
