Ignoring morals in crime plan
published: Wednesday | November 12, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

We have been hearing complaints from all and sundry that the Government and the security forces are not doing enough to fight crime. What we do not hear is, WHAT ARE WE DOING? We need to recognise the fact that government cannot legislate a man's mind.

The laws are there for everyone - God's moral laws and the laws of the land, but we choose to disobey them. Our total defiance of God's moral laws speaks volumes of our disrespect for the laws of the land. Murder, stealing, lying, adultery all abrogate God's moral laws, disobedience of which has very serious consequences yet we choose to ignore them.

Unless we accept the instructions given in God's moral laws, we will continue to kill and to maim and think nothing of it. We are so full of self and materialism, we become totally oblivious to morals. Under the misguided disguise of loyalty to family or friends we cover up the scourge that is overtaking our country. We have become very obedient servants of the devil and as such, we are being recompensed for our services.

I am, etc.,

STOEL E.A. Foster
