The Editor, Sir:

This is in response to Lucius White's letter in Wednesday's Gleaner.

Hi Lucius, I just read your letter to the Editor in today's Gleaner,. I think you have misunderstood what the Government has done as it relates to these five agencies and the procurement guidelines.

Contrary to what is stated in your article, these agencies have not been exempted from investigation by the contractor general. They instead have been given permission, not to follow the procurement guidelines for specified items. This however, does not mean that these transactions cannot be investigated by the contractor general. The contractor general himself has stated that he is going to be ensuring that these agencies are adequately investigated by his office.

I am, etc.,

DONOVAN BOWEN
