Elephant Man performs at Pulse Caribbean Model Search finals. - Winston Sill/Freelance Photographer

Pulse celebrated the finals of its Caribbean Model Search (CMS) in the ultimate mix of fashion and dancehall culture a couple Sundays ago at the Hilton Kingston hotel, New Kingston. The CMS big night boasted a superb performance from Elephant Man, complete with a surprise command cameo addition to his act from audience member, Christina Gonzales.

D'Angel, Bling Dawg and Chi Chi Ching also delivered good sets and the fashion rocked as CMS' fabulous new faces ruled the runway. And, as the set was being dismantled, fashionistas learned that the region's hottest reality series is set to premier at the beginning of next month.

The ultimate launching pad for Pulse's international stars, the CMS saw over 70 contestants walk out on the runway in hopes of securing one of the fashion titles. After the winners were announced for each category, Male Face of the Caribbean Andre Swaby; Jamaica Petite Fashion Model Michaela Ramlal and Jamaica Fashion Model Shermonique Ivey, Pulse revealed the names of the select models who will be competing in this season's CMS reality TV series.

chosen few

After an extensive islandwide search to find the Caribbean's next supermodel, the spotlight will now be the chosen few which includes Venice Barnes, 23; Krystina Black, 18; Kannigia Buckle, 18; Shereece Cowan, 18; Noviea Douglas, 18; Kimberlee Edwards, 16; Shawnette Evering, 14; Tania Francis, 16; Crystal Gordon, 20; Renai Hanson, 17; Karneila Livingston, 20;

Rochelle McKinley, 14; Jodian Myrie, 18; Jelissa Myers, 16; Tasha Kaye Myers, 17; Crystal Patterson, 16; Kimberly Purrier, 22; Jodi Ann Richards, 16; Latrar Scott, 16; Taneisha Sinclair, 16; Racquel Smith, 17; Tiffany Thompson, 17; Toni Ann Watson, 15, and Renae Blackwell 20. They get ready to 'face off' in a series of fashion challenges to become the next CMS reality star.

The highly anticipated season three series is set to air on CVM TV Fridays at 9 p.m. Projecting a whirlwind of drama, mixed with glamour, Pulse producers are busy orchestrating extreme challenges for the beauties to battle it out fashion style. As the third installment of CMS reality TV gets under way, the 25 novice models prepare for their first elimination exercise, which will leave only 15 making it to the next round. At the end of the series, only one contestant will have survived the intense series of challenges.

international event

A truly international event, CMS targets over 200,000 model hopefuls in the Caribbean. After the scouting process is completed in Jamaica, similar searches are also conducted in the participating islands. The winners go on to compete for the grand regional CMS title. In 2007, Pulse extended its reach to the United Kingdom and a number of new Caribbean territories. Representatives from Jamaica, Barbados, Cayman Islands, St Vincent & The Grenadines, Dominican Republic, England and the United States stormed the island in a bid to be crowned the grand CMS model.

Which country walked away with the title? Stay tuned to CVM-TV and HYPE TV to find out.

Pulse's 30-year formula continues to produce supermodels and superstars such as Jaunel McKenzie, Gaye McDonald, Sunna Gottshalk, Nicole Grey, Carla Campbell, Jeneil Williams, Nell Robinson and Oraine Barrett - all Caribbean Model Search winners and finalists who continue to make major strides in fashion.

The CMS is presented by Pulse in association with Samurai Investments, Eye Q Optical, CVM-TV, the Hilton Kingston hotel, HYPE TV, Splashjamaica.com, Jamrock magazine, Ocean Style, SHE Caribbean, ZIP FM and The Gleaner.
