THE JAMAICA Cricket Association (JCA) is set to roll out its own version of Twenty20 cricket next season.

Paul Campbell, the first vice president of the JCA, in an interview with The Gleaner on Wednesday said funds had been garnered for the fast-growing version of the game.

"I only last week signed a multimillion-dollar sponsorship for our 20/20 tournament starting in 2009," Campbell told The Gleaner.

However, details of how and when the league will be played have not yet been finalised.

Overseas teams

Asked if teams from overseas, along with local club sides would take part, and if games would be played at nights, Campbell said the possibilities exist.

"I would say all of the above, but I am at a delicate stage now where I am to submit a revised proposal to my board," he said.

"But one thing I can tell you, that the sponsorship has been signed off ... it is a mega sponsor," he continued, while promising "soon we will hear some more information".

Campbell, who is in a battle with Courtney Walsh for presidency of the JCA, said the board has already given its approval.
