New principal, Dr Walton Small was last Saturday officially wel-comed to the Wolmer's school family at the Wolmer's Boys' Association (WOBA) annual banquet.
During the banquet, held at the Knutsford Court Hotel in New Kingston, Professor Gordon Shirley, principal of the University of the West Indies, was also presented the WOBA's Gold Award, which is the highest award a Wolmerian can achieve.
Small, in his speech, listed several priority objectives and urged the alumni to offer support.
Utilise technology
He said one of his main platforms would be to utilise technology to allow parents to access students reports and grades on a frequent basis and to reduce the administrative tasks done by teachers so they can focus on teaching.
The WOBA's annual general meeting is scheduled for October 1, and its long-serving president, Deryck Rose, will be stepping down to make way for either Khalil Stephenson, former Manning Cup player (1996), or Marlon Case, former deputy head boy, to assume the role of president.
On October 11, both the Wolmer's Girls Alumnae and the WOBA will be paying tribute to its Olympians, Shelly-Ann Fraser, Michael Frater, Germaine Mason (high jump silver medallist for Great Britain) and coach Stephen Francis at The Quad nightclub in New Kingston.
The event will be called 'Memories', the Wolmer's edition.
