Guess what! Millions of trees are accidentally planted by squirrels, who bury nuts and then forget where they hid them. In one year, the average tree gives off enough oxygen to allow a single person to breathe for four years.
Pine, spruce, oleander or other evergreen wood should never be used in barbecues. These woods, when burning or smoking, can add harmful tar and resins to the food. Only hardwoods should be used for smoking and grilling, such as oak, pecan, hickory, maple, cherry, alder, apple, or mesquite, depending on the type of meat being cooked.
An orange tree may bear oranges for more than 100 years. A good investment! The famous 'Constable Tree', an orange tree brought to France in 1421, lived and bore fruit for 473 years.
The baobab tree has a short, fat trunk that develops into a shape of a bottle. It is one of the most drought-resistant trees and can store up to 36,000 gallons of water in its trunk.

Plant palms
Palms like to be planted in the fall. As a rule of thumb:
1. Dig a large hole,
2. Amend the soil with organic matter.
The new school of thought is that you should not improve the quality of soil in which a tree is planted, as it will make it 'lazy' and the root system will not develop beyond the good soil.
3. Tie up palm fronds with rope, to decrease dehydration and prevent sunburn to the palm heart.
4. Plant, and keep palm watered.
