The Opposition Senator K.D. Knight, as smart as he is, would have been well aware that Minister Pearnel Charles was merely being hyperbolic when he declared that 'dons' would be welcome to speak to a parliamentary committee on a raft of security legislation being considered by the legislature. Mr Knight's tantrum could only have been ... well, exercised.
But we don't quite know what to make of the statement by Colonel Trevor MacMillan, the national security minister, to have the 'dons' come to Parliament to have their say.
Colonel MacMillan, after all, seems very earnest.
But then, being national security minister in Jamaica is a taxing and searing job, and perhaps Colonel MacMillan is feeling the strain and reaching out for all the help he can get.
