Marshall dropped from Stanford 20/20 squad
published: Wednesday | September 17, 2008

JAMAICA AND West Indies opening batsman Xavier Marshall has been replaced by Guyana's Travis Dowlin in the Stanford Superstars 20/20 17-member squad that will take on England in a winner-take-all US$20 million match on Saturday, November 1 at the Stanford Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Marshall, who made an auspicious Test debut against Australia earlier in the summer, was part of the original 32-member Stanford Superstars squad that was invited to a training camp in Antigua earlier this year and, based on his performances, was selected to be a part of the final squad to contest the cash-rich event.

However, in a release issued by the Stanford Superstars management team yesterday, it was revealed that Marshall had been replaced by Dowlin.

Imran Khan, media and com-munications manager for the Stanford Superstars team, con-firmed Marshall had been dropped from the squad.

"Yes, he has been replaced," Khan said. "However, at the moment we are not privy to disclose the information why. We wish we could have, but unfor-tunately, we can't," he said.

Efforts to contact Marshall for comment proved unsuccessful.
