Pepsi chooses Tami, Shaggy
published: Wednesday | September 17, 2008

Tami Chynn

Entertainers Tami Chynn and Shaggy have landed coveted spots in Pepsi's new television commercials.

Filmed at Universal Studios, Los Angeles, in spring and directed by Fredrik Bond, the commercials feature interpretations of the 1974 hit song Kung Fu Fighting by Jamaican Carl Douglas.

Director of Sports and Entertainment for PepsiCo International, Ellen Healy, said in arriving at its selection, the company chose artistes with unique music tastes and sounds.

Sneak peak

Healy said that Pepsi was fortunate to have been given a sneak peak at how talented Tami Chynn was.

"We thought she'd be a great fit," Healy said.

The Pepsi executive had high praises for Shaggy as he was lauded for his creativity.

"We love what Shaggy did to create a new vibe to the old song Kung Fu Fighting. He truly brought in his signature sound, so we selected his version of the song too," she said.

American artiste T-Pain is featured in the commercial along with comedic actor Verne Troyer.

Healy was unsure of the release date of the ads, even though a version of Tami Chynn's ad could be viewed on the website Youtube.
