Health, safety confab kicks off September 15
published: Monday | September 8, 2008

The inaugural Health, Safety, Security and Envi-ronment (HSSE) Conference and Expo, presented by 3M and The American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica (AmCham), is scheduled to take place September 15-16, at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, New Kingston. The expo will be held under the theme, "Integrating HSSE and Business: A Formula for Development".

The event will bring together professionals and experts in the fields of health, safety, security, the environment and disaster preparedness.

Combined conference

"A unique feature of this Expo is the combined conference with its inclusion of training sessions and technical presentations delivered by experts in their respective fields from Jamaica and overseas," AmCham said in a release yesterday. "The convention will allow for networking, the creation of HSSE awareness and information sharing of best practices and a forum for discussion of controversial issues with HSSE implications."

Among the special features of the expo will be a presentation by Commissioner of Police Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, who will address the topic, Extortion: Its Psychological and Economic Impact on Business on day one. On the second day of the expo, Prime Minister Bruce Golding will kick off activities.
