The Editor, Sir:
Our athletes did us proud in the just concluded Beijing Olympics and we have every reason to celebrate their achievements.
All the stakeholders, at this time, should be thinking about developing a programme in which there is at least one high-quality professional coach supervising all track and field activities.
Also, there should be more track and field events, outside of the regular season, at all levels.
Look at Usain Bolt during his high school days, with very poor running technique, and he was still doing well. Imagine if he had professional guidance at that time, what would have been his achievements today.
