Due to heavy rains dumped on the island by Tropical Storm Gustav last weekend, the public is being advised that the National Gallery of Jamaica will be closed until Thursday, September 4, 2008.
Meanwhile, Sajoune Rose, public relations officer, at the Institute of Jamaica, located at 10-16 East Street, said the effects caused only minor damage to the centre. Repairs are, however, in progress and the Gallery will re-open soon.
"As of Thursday, September 4, the public can come out and continue using its facilities," she said.
The Fort Charles Museum in Port Royal is also closed to the public, until further notice, due to the lack of electricity and water brought on by the passage of Tropical Storm Gustav. The Museum will reopen as soon as utilities are restored.
