The Editor, Sir:
I write to recommend that justices of the peace (JPs) be assessed periodically to ensure that they are performing to their fullest. I have witnessed documents that are unprofessionally certified, recommendations that are poorly worded and hand writings that are illegible.
Defeats the purpose
Being a JP need not be a life-time 'job' if they become too old to function properly or are oftentimes intoxicated and move at a snail's pace. I am not being harsh or disrespectful, and yes, I know that it is a voluntary service for which the public is grateful; but it will defeat the purpose for which they were commissioned.
I hope the powers that be take this into consideration as it affects the flow of business and is an inconvenience to the public.
I am, etc.,
CONCERNED CITIZEN
