Thanks Mr Mayor, but ...
published: Wednesday | August 27, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I note that Kingston Mayor Desmond McKenzie was moved to the point where he suggested renaming several roads after our successful Olympians.

While I would like to commend him for the gesture, I would, at the same time invite him to take a look at Derrymore Road, which was renamed after the esteemed and outstanding cricketer, Courtney Walsh.

Now sir, this road is in the most deplorable and outrageous condition rendering it a total dishonour to the stature of the man.

Since Mr McKenzie and his councillors are in the mood to rename and repair to honour our athletes, it would be nice to give Derrymore Road some urgent attention.

I am, etc.,

E. PALMER
