More than 300 students in the McCook's Pen, Bodles and Spring Village communities of St Catherine have received scholarships and back-to-school supplies, such as backpacks, pencil cases, pens and exercise books, from the Jamaica Broilers Group (JBG).

The presentations were made last Thursday by JBG president and chief executive officer, Robert Levy, at the group's head offices at McCook's Pen.

Tuition fees

Among those who benefitted are 35 Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) students, who are entering high school, or who have maintained a 70 per cent average at high school, and residents of the communities who are pursuing studies at tertiary institutions - all of whom received cheques to assist with their tuition fees.

School supplies

In addition, 300 children, from communities in which JBG operates, got large boxes of school supplies, which were handed over to community representatives for distribution. The representatives included Cecil Campbell of Spring Village, Mark Brown of Bodles and Pastor Keith Pitt of the Holy Ghost Power Ministries in McCook's Pen.

"All JBG asks is that you do well and remember that you are blessed, because we are blessed," Levy told students in his address before handing out the awards.
