The Quad donates to PALS

Peace and Love in Society (PALS) Jamaica last Wed-nesday received a donation from New Kingston nightclub The Quad.

Nola Mignott, assistant general manager of PALS, said she was happy to receive the cash that would kick-start an account at Jamaica Money Market Brokers Ltd (JMMB) for the non-profit organisation.

Encourage other companies

"I am happy about the donation. It was their (The Quad's) initiative and we hope it will encourage other companies to do likewise, especially those that are concerned about crime and violence in the society," said Mignott.

Sean Lyn, marketing manager for Nite Time Promotions Ltd, said The Quad decided to donate to PALS because the nightclub was also concerned about the level of crime in society.

Lyn said that on June 21, the management team decided to give part proceeds of the night's gate receipts to PALS.

Lyn presented the cheque to Christopher Barnes, deputy managing director of The Gleaner Company and PALS director, during a special ceremony held at the nightclub.

"With crime and violence in the society, we wanted to give back to the society through a charity programme," said Lyn. "We thought it would be a worthy cause to donate to. We hope to do more charitable events that will help the Jamaican society, and people can look out for more activities like this in the future."

Lyn said he hoped other companies would donate to the account when it is opened.
