Further to reports on our two major television stations on the night of Monday, August 18, I must also express my dissatisfaction with our nation's Customs Department.

I import products on a small, arguably, tiny scale, yet I have been subject to inconsistencies that have caused me to contemplate ceasing my business operations on several occasions.

Imagine my frustration at being charged three different clearance fees for three packages received within two weeks of each other, despite their having similar contents and being of the same weight? In one case, the second package's clearance fee was four times that of its predecessor!

Insult to injury

I challenged the second fee and upon discovery of the calculation error, I was told that my refund was being "processed".

This added insult to injury, for in addition to taking a huge slice of my profit margin, this 'processing', I am told, will take anywhere from three months to two years!

I empathise with those irate women who expressed their anger with this system that is obviously not conducive to good business.

Clearly, Danville Walker has his work cut out for him. I wish him well.
