Hottest topics on the cocktail circuit

Nice manoeuvre

1. People are citing a clever manoeuvre by the two love-birds who conspired to get on to the Orient Express when no one was looking. Mind you, the missis gets regular updates about the happenings and thinks that it is simply business. Those in the know say one would have to stretch the meaning of business a great deal to have double massages and intimate dinners fit into that category.

The best of both worlds

2. The husband provides every material thing that his high-profile wife could ever desire. And she never misses an opportunity to boast about that fact. But when it comes to her other needs, she has bonded with two special girlfriends who take turns in keeping her happy.

Activist admires McCain

3. Some people cannot help themselves. Take this well-seasoned political activist who has recently emigrated to the US. They say she has already volunteered to work in the current US presidential campaign. Having declared herself a McCain admirer, she has even attended strategy meetings. But friends are warning her to leave behind the Jamaican style of politics which usually involves mud-slinging, bogus voting, flawed lists and violence.

Dagger's drawn

4. Speaking of campaigns, the pundits say the two big guns are at daggers drawn and the tension in the office is as thick as Beijing's smog. After the dust has settled, it is obvious that one of them will have to go. But which one? Time will tell.

Say what?

5. There are persistent reports that the gentleman is finding it difficult to operate because his hearing is failing him fast. Surely, he can access the best available health care in order to remedy the problem. At the moment, those whom he leads are making fun of him and it is sometimes quite embarrassing.
