Grenada PM arrives in Trinidad
published: Thursday | August 14, 2008

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Grenada's Prime Minister Tillman Thomas arrived here yesterday at the start of a two-day visit that he hopes would further strengthen relations between the two Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries.

Thomas was greeted by Prime Minister Patrick Manning and members of his Cabinet as he arrived on a private jet at the Piarco International Airport. He was also the special guest at a cultural presentation at the airport.

According to the official programme released here, Thomas, who became head of government following the July 8 general elections in his country, will pay a courtesy call on Acting President Danny Montano and later hold talks with Prime Minister Manning.

Private sector

He was scheduled to address a private sector luncheon on Wednesday and will also visit the University of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as a number of projects on the island.

Prior to his arrival here, Thomas said the visit would be beneficial to Grenada.

"For instance, in the agro-processing industry, the energy sector, we believe we could benefit from Trinidad and Tobago. We want to have friendly relations with Trinidad and Tobago," he added.
