Fraser on target

Fraser

MIAMI, Florida (CMC):

JAMAICAN SEAN Fraser and Fabrice Noel, of Haiti, helped their teams log handsome victories in the latest United Soccer League (USL) First Division matches.

Fraser scored Miami FC's last goal as they pounded Atlanta Silverbacks 3-0 and Noel scored goal No. 2 for the Puerto Rico Islanders as they came from 0-2 down to edge the Minnesota Thunder 3-2.

Both matches were played Sunday.

At Miami's Tropical Park Stadium, the home side shot into a 2-0 half-time lead through goals from Alex Afonso (6th) and Leo Nunes (28th).

Fraser consolidated Miami's grip on the game by scoring in the 63rd minute.

After picking up a pass and running toward goal, Fraser passed inside to Walter Ramirez, who played the ball across goal for Fraser to smash a powerful shot in from a tight angle.

Quick two-goal burst

Meanwhile, Minnesota took control early against the PR Islanders at Blaine's National Sports Centre when Ricardo Sanchez (13th) and Dale Weiler (32nd) gave them a 2-0 half-time lead. But a quick two-goal burst had the Islanders level early in the second half.

Josh Hansen pulled a goal back in the 52nd minute and it became 2-2 when Noel scored a minute later on a play from a corner.

Edwin Miranda hit the winner in the 71st minute - a long range shot from 30 yards out - that beat Thunder goalkeeper Nic Platter.
