RTI promoting responsible drinking

Red Stripe is advocating responsible drinking during the RTI party series this weekend. Through its partnership with Absolute Entertainment to stage another Temptation Isle weekend in Negril July 31 to August 3, Red Stripe will be ensuring that its 'Think Responsibly, Drink Responsibly' campaign is strongly embedded throughout the series of events.

According to Safia Cooper, brand manager for Red Stripe, the company will be undertaking a number of initiatives in an effort to promote responsible drinking over the upcoming weekend using the WESTRN method (Water, Eat, Spacers, avoiding Top-ups, Responsible host; be one, No to drinking and driving).

Shuttle bus service

"Several initiatives that were utilised last year, and worked well for us will be used again. For instance, shuttle buses, going to and from the events, will be provided for our patrons to ensure they arrive at the events and back to their hotels safely," Ms Cooper pointed out.

This year, there will be 30 shuttle buses for each event and, as Miss Cooper explained, "we will have fifteen-minute water breaks every two hours at each event, as well as a slew of water barrels with complimentary water for everybody. All of our venues will have detox cafes where complimentary coffee, soup, water and snacks will be served around the clock." All this is in keeping with the WESTRN method.

"It is important to note, as well, that to maintain the safety and health of our loyal consumers, who must be 18 and over, no alcohol will be served during the water breaks to encourage each person to rehydrate," Ms Cooper said.

Extensive signage has been installed on the Negril strip with responsible drinking reminders and Red Stripe has secured paid parking, with adequate security, to monitor the outside of the venues.

"Last, but not least, our bartenders have been trained not to serve someone who has had too much to drink and they will be closely monitoring the patrons they serve. DJs will also be giving out responsible drinking tips throughout the events," she ended.

Red Stripe Temptation Isle will be staging seven parties and two live events over the weekend, which will all be inclusive of food and drink. The season-band guarantees access to all events.
