Pork leg for that special luncheon this Independence season should be fairly easy to come by this week in meat shops, both rural and urban.
If you are shopping for the meat in less-costly downtown outlets the asking price for pound (454.55g) will be $140. That same price will be quoted in a number of rural meatshops.
Fancy plazas in the Corporate Area as well as the rural areas will ask as much as $280 for a pound (454.55g) of pork chops this week.
GREEN BANANAS
Green bananas will not be cheap this week in any retail market, rural as well as urban.
Capitals like May Pen and Spanish Town will ask prices ranging from $80 to $100 per dozen for the much fancied staple and those same prices will hold good for most rural retailing markets.
Montego Bay's Charles Gordon Market will this week quote $80 for a dozen green bananas.
COOKING TOMATOES
Cooking tomatoes are currently on good offer in retail markets and vegetable shops and demand for the vegetable is as great as ever.
Downtown Kingston's less-costly selling spots will quote prices ranging from $20 to $50 each for the fruit food at this time, and so will most rural retail markets.
Montego Bay's Charles Gordon Market will this week ask $20 to $40 each for a finger of ripe plantain.
RIPE PLANTAIN
Ripe plantains are appearing in good quantities this week in most retail markets.

Downtown Kingston's less-costly retail markets will ask $20-$50 each this week.
NEGRO YAM
If negro yam happens to be your favourite variety, you should be able to pick up supplies in most retail markets this week.

BREADFRUIT
Breadfruit is on good offer at this time in most retail markets rural, as well as urban.

Downtown Kingston's selling locations can ask $40 to $80 each for breadfruit and so will most rural retail markets.
GINGER
Ginger is not cheap at any place these days.
Markets in May Pen and Spanish Town are asking $150 for a pound of ginger and so are lower-priced downtown Kingston selling spots and most rural retail and downtown Kingston's shopping areas.
