Looking back
After 46 years of independence, Jamaicans need to take a deep breath and look back at our journey. I am sure we can find both moments of joy and moments of deep pain, some triumphs and some great failures.
Jamaica has a lot to be proud of - from education to athletics, music, tourism and business and many other areas. Jamaicans are known to defend their rights at home and abroad. Our sense of style and our language have all had an influence on other cultures.
So, as we get ready to celebrate another Independence, let's look back and learn from both our mistakes and our victories, because sticking together is the only way to make life better for all of us.

New religion
Amen, I am not a Bible thumper or a churchgoing person, but I am happy to see a believer challenging this new-found religion, which, if not checked, will ruin poor Jamaicans.
I have no pity for the well-off and educated, who got taken by these 'three-card' men and women, in some cases, I bleed for the uneducated/poor and struggling who were robbed.
Thanks again, Mr Espeut. Keep it up. You will save some people from financial ruin.

Black fire hydrants
As a suggestion to assist with the problem of non-working fire hydrants, I believe that when tested and found not to be serviceable, for whatever reason, they should be painted black.
This would prevent households and businesses from having a false sense of security. When the hydrants are repaired and work, a nice new red paint job would be easy to apply.
