Guyana, Barbados win
published: Wednesday | July 30, 2008

PINELANDS, Barbados (CMC):

Guyana, 302 for nine, recorded a 76-run win over Leeward Islands in the limited-overs com-petition of the TCL Group West Indies Under-19 Challenge yesterday.

The Leewards, who slumped following an explosive start, were dismissed for 226 in 48.2 overs.

Meanwhile, new three-day champions Barbados were made to fight tooth and nail before overcoming Windward Islands (138 off 34.2 overs) by four wickets in their first match yesterday.

Set 159 to win, Barbados (159 for six off 49 overs) lost six wickets before winning with one over to spare in a competitive, low-scoring match in the opening round at Queen's Park.
