TUESDAY TALK HOTTEST TOPICS ON THE COCKTAIL CIRCUIT

Into the sunset

1. We are used to viewing images of a fat cat grabbing the reins of a horse and riding off into the sunset to look at life from a new angle. But this fat cat won't be looking at the future from a horse's saddle. No way. Instead, he will be cruising in his luxury Bentley. He is feeling no pain.

Raiding the vestry

2. The church elders have been beating their heads against a wall. The dilemma they face is that they don't know how to break the news to members that their beloved pastor took all their money and invested it where he thought they would get excellent returns. Well, you know what they say: 'if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is'. Pastor is reportedly studying his options. Many are predicting that the pulpit will be empty one of these days.

Radio rant

3. People are still talking about the angry rant on radio recently when a female host launched into a serious 'tracing' match of the Establishment because she did not like certain security measures that were being contemplated. This is a free country and everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but an emotional, bellicose outburst is an assault on listeners.

Oh, how soon we forget

4. Politicians cannot escape responsibility for the demise of the national bird. For example, when the struggling company tried to grapple with costs by shedding dead wood, a high-ranking politician intervened, demanding that they remove a name from the casualty list. Management was forced to keep non-performing employees simply because they had friends in high places.

Marley tribute in Serbia

5. The Marley magic keeps rolling on and European fans are counting down the days to the Rock Village Festival in Serbia in August when a sculpture of the late reggae icon Bob Marley will be unveiled. Festival promoters describe Marley as a 'liberty fighter armed with a guitar'.

Getting rippled!

6. Many people are concerned that their daily exercise routines have been interrupted. It is not that they are gym obsessed, but they want to have rippled bodies. But it seems their subscription fees have disappeared into a dark hole. Many are demanding refunds, but the word is not promising.
