Phone service disruption
published: Monday | July 21, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE CABLE and Wireless (C&W) landline phone service has been suspended over four weeks due to a broken utility pole, affecting Hampton Court, Duckensfield Housing Scheme (partially), Cheswick, Dalvey and their environs.

A new pole was put in place, but the service did not return. Customers made several calls and reported the problem to the C&W office in Kingston (there is no office in St Thomas).

Speedy return

All the affected customers of C&W are asking the Office of Utilities Regulation to convey our request for a speedy return of the landline phone service to the affected areas.

We are also asking: Is it legal for C&W to charge customers for 'rental' even when the service is suspended for over a month?

I am, etc.,

JA BAILEY

Dalvey PO, St Thomas
