A senior education director who was sent on leave by the Ministry of Education after a probe earlier this year has been reinstated.
In March, The Gleaner reported that Cheryl Davis-Ivey, director of services in the ministry, received a letter from then Permanent Secretary Maria Jones, who claimed Davis-Ivey had an agenda to disrupt activities of the Ministry of Education. At the time, Jones, who has since been transferred to the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, refused to divulge the details on the alleged agenda of Davis-Ivey. Davis-Ivey had been suspended from duty pending an investigation.
Davis-ivey elated
Davis-Ivey told The Gleaner Tuesday she was elated that her name had been cleared.
"I was recalled to duties and informed that the investigation had been completed and so I am still negotiating with the ministry regarding certain things," she said.
Davis-Ivey stressed that her faith in God comforted her through the ordeal.
Barbara Allen, senior director of the Planning and Development Division, who is currently the acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education, was unavailable for comment.
